Allison Sherman brings over 15 years of experience in K–12 and post-secondary education, as well as the non-profit sector. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Riverside, and completed a graduate program in Educational Counseling at the University of Southern California.
Allison began her career as an academic advisor and program manager with UC Riverside Extension – International Programs. In this role, she led a program designed to support academically dismissed students in returning to the university to complete their degrees. After five years, she transitioned into school counseling in South Los Angeles, where she discovered a deep passion for educating, mentoring, and empowering high school students from communities similar to her own.
Following three years in counseling, Allison accepted a management role at DirectEd Educational Services (now Cross Country Education), one of California’s largest educational staffing and service providers. There, she oversaw the hiring and training of short-term teachers and counselors, while also cultivating strategic partnerships with school districts across the state.
In 2017, Allison stepped away from the traditional education sector to launch her own non-profit organization and collaborate with her husband on several small business ventures. Today, she is a multi-business owner, the Founder of Families and Schools Empowered Inc., which provides intervention and student programming throughout Los Angeles County, and the Director of BLU Educational Foundation in San Bernardino, which focuses on college access and educational equity in the Inland Empire.
