With over 15 years of experience in education, Lisa is a seasoned academic and college counselor dedicated to empowering and nurturing students through the college application process. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Art, Music, and Theater from Georgetown University and a Master’s in Education in School Counseling from the University of Southern California.
After beginning her career in education as an SAT and academic tutor, Lisa quickly discovered her passion for working one-on-one with students. The individualized nature of tutoring and the relationships she formed inspired her to return to graduate school to obtain a Master’s degree in counseling. Since then, she has served as an academic and college counselor at several high schools (both public and private) throughout the Los Angeles area. As a school-based counselor, Lisa honed her skills and created her personal philosophy of guiding students based on the “triangle of care” - with a holistic focus that combines college counseling with both academic and social-emotional counseling.
Lisa’s counseling experience spans a wide range of student populations – she has worked with artists, student-athletes, international students, and students with learning differences. She takes pride in building strong, authentic connections with each student, helping them identify their strengths and define their goals as they embark on a process of self-discovery.
Lisa is especially passionate about helping students uncover their individual passions and embrace what makes them unique. She has a nurturing approach, combining empathy and insight with expertise, creating a supportive environment where students feel seen, heard, and motivated. She believes that the college application journey does not have to be overwhelming and stressful, and can sometimes even be fun!
