Julian is a mentor and college admissions counselor with over eight years of experience. He has helped many students gain admission to top universities and assisted families in navigating the complex landscape of high school and college admissions.
Growing up, Julian faced immense personal challenges. In order to support other students facing similar circumstances, he decided to pursue a career in education. His journey began in his final year at UCLA as a Peer Counselor for the Academic Advancement Program, where he provided academic and personal support to fellow students. After graduating and traveling the world, Julian began working as the College and Career Specialist at his former high school, where he supported students with college applications, financial aid, and career exploration. His dedication helped hundreds of students gain admission to universities nationwide, many with full or partial-tuition scholarships. In an effort to help students and families better understand the admissions process, he became an Admissions Reader for the University of California, which he has done for over four years. He continues to support a diverse population of students as a college applications advisor, essay editor, and mentor, helping them discover their passions and craft unique, compelling essays that give them an edge in admissions. He describes his writing style as quirky and eccentric, which he believes helps students stand out and become more creative writers.
Julian’s relationships with his students are always grounded in empathy, trust, and teamwork. His personalized guidance, creativity, and ability to easily connect with students help them find activities that genuinely interest them–becoming more than just another number in admissions and growing as individuals.
Ultimately, Julian wants his students to do more than just gain admission to their dream school–he wants them to become more confident, resilient, and independent along the way.
